Taylor 458e 12 String Guitar
« on: July 31, 2017, 12:43:18 AM »
I was very lucky and found an unusually good deal on a Taylor 458e, so I had to buy it.  As I now live in Thailand, it might be a while before I can get it here from the US, but I am patient.  Is there anyone out there who has played or owned one of these guitars.  If so, let me know your thoughts!   I currently have 1 of 35 Taylor Parlors, 1 of 100 Taylor Sea Turtles, a Martin Ditson 111, and a Larrivee L-10 Flamed Maple to keep me busy until I can get the 458e here!

Hello, and welcome!

I do not currently own one of the Grand Orchestra (GO) 12-strings, but will probably own one eventually.  I've not generally been a fan of the 6-string GO; but since its introduction, I had long opined that it would make a good 12-string.  When Taylor released the 458e and 858e, I was pleasantly surprised to learn they may have been listening to me...!

I think you'll be pleased with the 458e.  Personally, I prefer the tone of the 858e myself, but that's mainly a matter of taste.  And if I found a compelling deal on one, there's nothing about the tone of the 458e that would make me reject it.

Enjoy your new Taylor!

Welcome !  Sounds like a great guitar.

I don't have a Taylor 12 but I do own a 1970 Martin 12.  It's an amazing guitar that still produces an incredible sound.

I can only imagine you'll have a similar experience.

Play it in good health !

Welcome. Congrats on your new 458e. Would love to see pictures of it and hear a review, after you get it. There's another member here who also has one of the Taylor parlors. I sure wish they'd add parlors to the line, but I guess we'll have to keep lovin' our GS Mini's for now.
